What we are about
Sense of Self OT is run by Occupational Therapist Jo Collinson. Jo has many years experience working for the NHS working with Neurodivergent people and their families. Over the years Jo has developed a a great set of skills supporting clients who are Autistic, who have ADHD and whom have experienced trauma. Jo is experienced in completing sensory assessments and proving bespoke advice and support plans based on the clients individual needs.

Here at Sense of Self, Jo focusses on working with teenagers and young adults who require support with their sensory processing needs. The young people may be having difficulty attending work or education settings, feeling misunderstood and want to be able to advocate for themselves or struggling with anxiety or their mental wellbeing.

we use the 'SPM-2' as this is a tool that allows adults and adolescents to complete their own questionnaire as well as additional questionnaires for family and education settings. Intervention is based around supporting an individual to develop strategies to support regulation and looks at what an individual needs to be in the right state to be able to participate in the things they want and need to do.

Jo works with Adolescents in a virtual online environment OR in a clinic space based in Harold Wood, Essex. Assessment and Intervention are available in person or online.
Jo Collinson
Jo is a vastly experienced Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Practitioner with a passion for supporting Neurodivergent people. Jo believes that understanding ourselves and how our brains work leads to self-compassion and enables us to be kinder to ourselves. This belief is what 'Sense of Self' is built on and Jo aims to empower others to achieve self-acceptance and kindness through understanding our sensory-selves and how to advocate this to others.
